Two gaffe’s:
1. Joe Biden apparently thinks that the internet has numbers…like phones.
2. Bobby Jindal cannot fathom why the government would want to spend millions of dollars on volcano monitoring.
Again, I can’t help but notice that the Democratic version suggests that the speaker is dumb, but the Republican version suggests an assumption that the people watching [...]

I know we’ve been doing a lot of politics around here recently, but there’s a lot political to be done. I was particularly taken by this story about six governors who plan to refuse part or all of the federal stimulus money. The Governors (Republicans, all) of six of the most forward-thinking states in our [...]

I just saw my first high fructose corn syrup commercial by the corn lobby (I don’t watch a lot of commercials these days). A quick perusal of youtube suggests that there are more than the one that I just saw, which is this one:
In the commercial’s defense, I do believe that [...]

If you have a spare moment, might I encourage you to go to this website and send a letter of support to Texas state Senator Rodney Ellis and Representative Patrick Rose for their efforts to remove the heavy handed and woefully ignorant creationist element of the Texas State Board of Education.
It doesn’t take too long [...]

Being that I have had a large amount of free time on my hands recently, I have been perusing the back catalog of HBO documentaries on the cable box. I happened to watch “Right America: Feeling Wronged,” a documentary about the final descent of the McCain campaign. Admittedly, it is a select portrait of the [...]

Blaaarrghhh! I have become quite ill. As is a virtual guarantee, the illness has struck during my winter break week. And here I was planning on electing to do nothing all week. Now I am forced to do nothing, except haul my ass to the doctor (where I was vindicated in my prediction that I [...]

Hey everybody! Have you heard the good news? There’s a movie coming soon about Charles Darwin. The film, Creation is certainly going to rock. Let’s just head on over to the film’s website and read all about it, shall we?
From Recorded Picture Company, producers of such films as nine-time Academy Award winner The Last Emperor [...]

I’ve been following coverage of the trial of the founders of The Pirate Bay, quite possibly the world’s largest repository of torrent files on the internet. The Pirate Bay hosts links to the torrent files, which are kept on other computers, outside of the site, allowing the endeavoring copyright violator to download media illegally. Apparently, [...]

As if anyone needs more evidence that the current state of US copyright law is truly fucked, here’s a piece about how book publishers might claim that the new Kindle illegally reads out loud. The device, which has a robotic sounding text-to-speech converter in it may be considered a “public performance.”
Give me a fucking break.
I’m [...]
