About

Our Purpose:

Pseudopodia exists to provide a venue for the creative work and observations of teachers who work in the public schools of New York City and its surrounding suburbs.  Free expression and a vigorous exchange of opinion are desired and encouraged.  Since teaching, both as a job and a process, is a main focus, a policy of anonymity and pseudonymity is adhered to for all articles pertaining to actual events in schools and school districts.  While the more endeavoring among the readership may easily determine where contributors live and work, at no time will any contributor confirm those details on this site.

Anyone is welcome to contribute to the cause, as long as they are willing to adhere to the code of conduct.

Code of Conduct:

We take responsibility for our own words and reserve the right to restrict comments that do not conform to our standards.

We strive to post high quality, acceptable content, and we will delete unacceptable comments.

We define unacceptable comments as anything included (but not limited to) or linked to that:

  • is being used to abuse, harass, stalk, or threaten others
  • is libelous or knowingly false
  • infringes upon any copyright, trademark or trade secret of any third party.
  • violates an obligation of confidentiality
  • violates the privacy of others

We define and determine what is “unacceptable content” on a case-by-case basis, and our definitions are not limited to this list. If we delete a comment or link, we will say so and explain why.

We won’t say anything online that we wouldn’t say in person.

Unless we are trying to protect a confidential source, in which case, we may omit certain private details or otherwise obfuscate the source of the information. Likewise, names and details of certain stories may be changed to protect the innocent.

When we believe someone is unfairly attacking another, we will take considered action.

Comments that are deemed offensive will result in deleted comments.

We do not allow anonymous comments.

We require commenters to supply a valid email address before they can post, though we allow commenters to identify themselves with an alias, rather than their real name.

We ban trolls, though we may laugh at them first.

“I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it. (George Bernard Shaw)”

We reserve the right to keep our sources private.

We know that swearing is lazy, but we don’t particularly care.

***The Pseudopodia Code of Conduct is freely adopted from several on-line sources in the belief that it is silly to reinvent the wheel***
