The wife and I attended a lovely concert last night. Leo Kottke is always a mind-blowing time, what with all of the insane guitar stylings. However, we couldn’t help but notice that some of our fellow concert-goers seemed to have forgotten how to behave properly when attending live music.
Consider the gentleman who felt the urge [...]

Our Local Rag, Newsday seems to be on a terminal course. I hadn’t really noticed it until this week, when the paper finally dwindled down to less than 70 pages on most days (keep in mind that this is the only daily paper for all of Long Island).
None of it really surprises me. It’s not [...]

I just saw my first high fructose corn syrup commercial by the corn lobby (I don’t watch a lot of commercials these days). A quick perusal of youtube suggests that there are more than the one that I just saw, which is this one:
In the commercial’s defense, I do believe that [...]

Being that I have had a large amount of free time on my hands recently, I have been perusing the back catalog of HBO documentaries on the cable box. I happened to watch “Right America: Feeling Wronged,” a documentary about the final descent of the McCain campaign. Admittedly, it is a select portrait of the [...]

Hey everybody! Have you heard the good news? There’s a movie coming soon about Charles Darwin. The film, Creation is certainly going to rock. Let’s just head on over to the film’s website and read all about it, shall we?

…everyone who is currently associated with VH1 and it’s remarkably terrible slate of programming should be fired. In place, continual coverage of people with actual problems should be shown around the clock.
With shows like Rock of Love, Tool Academy and I Love Money 2 (2!!!!), I am ashamed to be part of this culture.

I fully expect that the wrong message is about to be widely sent regarding Michael Phelps smoking pot. I can only imagine that he will be widely shamed for his illegal activity. So shocking that a 23-year-old male likes to blow a few tubes from time to time. And of course, marijuana is known for [...]

Yeah, I go to the gym. About twice a week, give or take a bit. And sometimes I’m just too busy for a stretch or two. It’s good to exercise.
The gym can be a strange place. I’m not one to particularly stand out. A bit of cardio, some resistance training and back to some cardio. [...]

We went to a giant flea market today somewhere in the bowels of sunny Florida. I don’t know that there is a comparable experience to be had on my native Long Island. The ability to hold the event outside on a year-round basis has allowed the market to expand to state fair-like proportions. [...]
